Price slippage for Wesfarmers

With the Queensland mine producing a mix of hard coking, semi coking and pulverised coal injection-grades of met coal, the outcome was in line with recent market price settlements, according to Wesfarmers Resources managing director Stewart Butel.

The wholly owned Bowen Basin mine produced 2.03 million tonnes of met coal in the December quarter – a 24% gain year-on-year – while its thermal coal output slipped 1% YoY to 0.9Mt.

Wesfarmers owns 40% of the Bengalla thermal coal mine in the Hunter Valley with its share of December quarter output falling 4% YoY to 0.8Mt.
