The new office in Sudbury, Ontario, which the company is opening with partner Varis, will open to the public on July 1.
BWMS president Bill Hensler told ILN the new entity was part of the company’s focus on enhancing sales capabilities to the mining market in Canada.
The office will also manage service, product management, and research and development.
It will be headed up by Canadian sales manager Darrell Gillis, who joined BWMS last year to oversee customer needs in Canada and the western US coalfields.
BWMSC has already logged its first new product line as a result of a new partnership between the company and Conspec Controls, which has developed the only approved gas monitoring system for underground coal mines in Canada.
Conspec’s safety enhancement devices – including Smart Head monitors, controllers and battery powered transmitters – will be available through BWMSC’s product catalog.
“We are thrilled to be opening our very first global location and taking Becker Wholesale Mine Supply to a whole new international level,” Hensler said.
“The Sudbury location will help keep our customers outfitted with the products and services, with an even more rapid turnaround.”
