Bear’s Tyres managing director and co-inventor of the Tyre Tracker Brad Bearman said the software coupled with seven years of data the company had collected from a large fleet operator could be applied to any similar-sized truck fleet.
“The Tyre Tracker has always functioned to work out the exact cost of the life of a tyre, but now we have a highly qualified bank of data collected over the past seven years in a real, working industry application,” Bearman said. “So now we can also apply that data from the field to any fleet operator in Australia.”
The Tyre Tracker is designed to assist in matching the correct tyre for any given truck, depending on its use.
“We have collected enough information to use as a reference and we can now easily work out the exact tyre for the exact truck or trailer and, together with our unique tyre management service, predict exactly how long that tyre will last and more importantly, cost, over its lifespan.”
Bearman said the data was the biggest collection of tyre related information in Australia. “By using Bear’s Tyre Tracker and managing the tyres, we can help fleet operators save anywhere between 20-30 per cent on their monthly tyre costs, which means for an operator of up to 500 vehicles, we are talking about a saving of roughly $10,000 per month”
However, Bearman stressed the importance of also having a solid tyre management regime in place.
“The Tyre Tracker is a great piece of equipment but it’s only part of an integrated tyre management process.”
