Coal with coking properties identified by exploratory drilling earlier this month has encouraged the company to pursue an additional four-hole scouting program which established the connection.
The additional drill sites have confirmed coal-section consistency and continuity for the two seams which each measure about 3m thick and have been intersected at depths ranging from 100-311m.
Encocoal chief executive Tim Hedley said he was pleased with the findings.
“[R]ecent confirmation that these seams exist at shallower depths is encouraging,” he said.
“Further drilling along strike has the potential to expand the size of any Stockyard Creek resource identified.”
The company has identified further exploration targets to the north and south of the site though the next drilling will focus on the sub-crop area east of initial drilling where coal seams are projected to be closer to the surface.
