Two of the machines are MB650s while the other is an MB670. They join more than 20 other Sandvik bolter-miners in the region.
Sandvik Mining capital equipment sales manager Greg Giles said all three machines were ordered to provide additional capacity at the mines.
As with other Sandvik equipment working in the region, the machines will be serviced and supported from the company’s Mackay and Emerald facilities.
Sandvik Mining’s MB600 series is designed for rapid entry roadway development.
The machines are able to cut and bolt simultaneously, thus increasing development rates.
Bolting rigs are an integrated part of all models in the MB 600 series and up to four roof bolters and two rib bolters can be fitted.
It allows them to install bolts close to the face for safety and stability.
Key features of the machines include:
- A support canopy behind the cutter drum, incorporating integrated rib protection for increased operator safety, stability and ergonomics
- Data logging, including machine health monitoring with integrated reporting
- Low pick tip speed for reduced dust generation
- Programmable logic controllers integrating all machine functions including sump and shear control.
Probably most notable though is the ability for the machines to be operated in full remote control.
In outburst conditions they can be operated with the aid of video monitors from a safe position.
