In addition salaries will be frozen for all WGPSN offshore and onshore employees in Australia.
While the moves are unlikely to be welcomed by the unions, WGPSN Australia Asia Pacific boss Andrew Stewart said the company had little choice.
“This decision has been taken in direct response to the cost and efficiency challenges being faced by the sector globally and our commitment to making a proactive contribution to its future sustainability,” he said.
“The safety of our people and the assurance of everything we design, construct, operate and maintain remains our top priority.
“We are taking measures to ensure we lead the market correction, reduce costs, drive value for our customers and play our part in safeguarding the long-term health of the industry.”
Employees covered by current enterprise agreements will not be directly impacted.
