Milestone for Comet Ridge

COMET Ridge has started its extended production test at Gunn-2 in the Galilee Basin in Queensland.

Managing director Tor McCaul said the producing well was “an important milestone for the company in the Galilee Basin”

He added that it was the company’s first EPT well which had been set up for long-term production.

The well was originally drilled in October to a net coal thickness of 16.2m and was completed for production in November.

After the site was prepared at the end of 2012, the EPT started on January 11.

It will run over the next few months before the company finalises the design for the pilot scheme.

Eight exploration and appraisal wells have been drilled in the Galilee Basin, with five in the Gunn project area.
