Drax provides 7-8% of the UK’s electricity and is in the process of transforming the business into a predominantly biomass-fuelled generator, through burning bio-mass in the place of coal.
The first unit was converted in mid-2013 and the next conversions will take place in April 2015.
Drax Biomass is also working in the US to develop and manufacture wood pellets from biomass to generate sustainable, renewable power.
With many ventures in the pipeline, the need protect the company against cyber-attack has never been so prominent.
As online threats to the company evolve, the need to protect critical systems and information assets increase.
Drax has deployed Darktrace’s Behavioural Cyber Defence system, which can detect emerging threats within the network.
"Behavioural Cyber Defence is leading the way to a new age of cyber defence that allows organisations to get ahead of emerging threats as they happen”, Darktrace CEO Andrew France said.
