This follows the completion of the first phase of drilling and the definition of an initial inferred resource of 112 million tonnes of coking coal.
Situated on the Scottish and English border, Lochinvar has potential to produce a low-ash, high-volatile coking coal at high yields.
The project is well served by extensive infrastructure, including rail within 1km, providing access to multiple ports and steelworks.
The four-hole drilling program looks to upgrade part of the existing resource status from inferred to indicated, whilst gathering mine design and geotechnical data on coal seam roof and floor conditions.
The drilling will provide further information on raw and clean coal quality, geotechnical and structural information, all of which will be incorporated into the Scoping Study to define preliminary mining methods.
Priority drilling has been selected as the drilling contractor at Lochinvar. It is the largest wireline diamond drilling contractor in Ireland and the UK.
All land access, licences and approvals are in place for Phase 1b drilling program and well advanced for future programs.
