Total coal produced went up 2% from the third quarter in 2007, but was still 11% lower than the same time in 2006.
Coal production throughout 2007 was 17% less than the previous year, and while severe weather conditions in June did have an impact on production, limitations on the coal supply chain appear to be the main cause.
Fourth quarter sales for Coal & Allied were in line with allocated port capacity. Coal sales for the whole of 2007 were 7% higher than production as a result of the drawing down of inventories.
