Communications

Becker NCS will be displaying several products at QME, in particular our platform of radio communications solutions for both coal and hard rock mines. Our UHF and VHF Leaky Feeder technologies provide high quality, reliable voice, data and video throughout the mine. We have in the past year installed over twenty (20) UHF systems as our clients recognise the benefits over standard VHF. UHF can achieve +200m of coverage off the Leaky Feeder system underground.

With our coming range of I.S. communications systems, coal mines will finally be able to enjoy the benefits that reliable two way Leaky Feeder systems have been bringing to the hard rock market for many years.

Electrical

Becker NCS recently commenced our electrical division which focuses on the hard-rock mining sector, providing equipment which is manufactured in Australia to suit the Australian mining conditions. We offer product ranging from fan starters through to sub-stations.

Our electrical division also has a Labour Hire, Equipment Hire and soon, projects group. We offer the advantage of being a one-stop shop for all of your electrical and communications requirements. Importantly, the Becker group is also the OEM of all of the products, so you have the comfort of dealing with one responsible entity.

Automation

Becker NCS currently provide Telemetry solutions for ventilation, pump and borefield control and monitoring. We have Citect programming expertise and can interface to your existing SCADA packages.

Tagging & Tracking

Tagging and Tracking solutions are now being rolled out for many applications in coal and hard rock mines. The Becker group has the most tagging systems installed globally in the mining industry. Know the location of your people, vehicles and assets in real time. Monitor tip cycle times or control fuel management, the system provides significant flexibility with 100% reliable tag reading.

DTIS, or Decline Traffic Information System, is a product that allows decline users (light and heavy vehicles) to be aware of the next two (2) approaching vehicles. Displays placed throughout the decline and levels will constantly update to reflect vehicle movements.

Fuel Management Systems, making use of active and passive Becker tagging variants, along with the CATS database and various control mechanisms to manage and record full details of fuel usage on a site. With soaring fuel costs, being able to properly manage this resource is becoming critical. Similarly, if you’re entitled to rebates on diesel consumption the reports generated can be used to verify and ensure your claims are valid and thorough.

Collision Avoidance

The Becker Collision Avoidance System (CAS) allows drivers of large vehicles to be made aware of other vehicles (or personnel) in close proximity. The system allows multiple antennae and tunable read ranges to ensure all types of vehicles can be properly detected. CAS informs the driver via display, lights and/or audibly. The LED readouts will inform the driver of the number of vehicles or people in the area and the direction of those assets. New designs support multi-channel video displays.

Flameproof Electrics (ENDIS)

Becker NCS, in conjunction with our strategic partner Vale SMS, will be releasing the Becker ENDIS technology at QME. A range of compact, modular flameproof equipment inherently designed to minimize downtime and increase utilization rates for longwall operations and development panels, the ENDIS range is a revolutionary development for the Australian coal markets.

The initial products will be for longwall mines and provide flameproof 3.3kV Distribution Control Boxes, or DCB’s.
