The regional workshops are the fifth in a series convened by the ACARP Roadway Development Task Group (RWDTG) and are open to all those involved in roadway development including operators, trades, team leaders, ERZ controllers/deputies, development coordinators and engineers, superintendents and mine managers.
Speaking from a mine perspective will be Peter Whittall on the mine and roadway development challenges he has experienced at the Pike River mine in New Zealand.
This will be followed by a presentation from Jeff Henderson, Brett Jones and Ray Esler from Appin Colliery on remote mining under outburst conditions.
Matt Armstrong will then present on the roadway development challenges faced at Tahmoor Colliery.
Presentations from a mine perspective will also include the topic of roadway development at Oaky North by Neville Stanton and beating water at Integra Coal, presented by Gerald Linde.
From the suppliers side will be updates on process based management in development operations by Mine Consulting Services; specialist equipment for roadway development challenges by Waratah Engineering; the self-drilling bolt by Ground Support Services; and a research update on liquid mesh, automated bolting and meshing and roadway simulation from the University of Wollongong and Simulation Modelling Services.
The workshops will be held August 26 in Pokolbin, August 27 in Penrith and August 29 in Mackay.
