New head for Aquila coal

Pilcher has been appointed coal general manager for the Perth-based coal and iron ore producer.

Pilcher has worked in senior positions in the coal industry for 20 years, with his most recent role as executive general manager project development overseeing Vale’s coal portfolio in Australia.

He has also held the position as general manager at Vale’s Ellensfield project.

Pilcher holds degrees in economics and mining engineering.

Aquila thanked Matheson for his contribution in progressing Aquila’s coal projects over the past 2.5 years.

Aquila has interests in the Isaac Plains, Eagle Downs and Belvedere coal projects in Australia, as well as the Asenjo Energy project in Botswana and the Waterberg project in South Africa.
