A Gladstone Ports Corporation spokesperson told International Longwall News that in-loading resumed last night and ship loading operations will start progressively today.
She said she assumed some ships went a bit further out to avoid the cyclone but did not have further details on their whereabouts.
Queensland Rail said yesterday afternoon that freight services had resumed between Mackay and Rockhampton, the last remaining corridor on the rail network that was closed due to the cyclone.
“No passenger or freight trains had operated on this section of the North Coast line since it was closed on Sunday,” QR said.
Bloomberg reported shipping resumed yesterday at Hay Point while Dalrymple Bay is due to be reopened today while 19 ships that sailed south were yet to return.
The cyclone has intensified offshore to the category four level with wind speeds of 230 kilometres per hour according to ABC News, which also reported the storm is forecast to break up and turn towards the coast tonight or tomorrow.
