In lieu of the regular conference, the agency has planned two one-day seminars in the eastern and western regions of the state.
The first will be held at the Barnhill Contracting Company Training Center in Rocky Mount on April 29 and the second will be held the next day at the Statesville Civic Center in Statesville.
Organisers said attendees would have less travel expenses because the single-day sessions begin at 9am local time and adjourn at or around 3.30 in the afternoon.
Both seminars will include identical itineraries, but the DOL’s Mine and Quarry Bureau said plans are still being finalised. At this stage, the technical presentations will include:
Why Does My Company Need An Occupational Health Program? – Lehigh Hanson safety and health manager Ryan Langton
MSHA Initiatives – US Mine Safety and Health Administration southeast district acting manager Wyatt Andrews
Who Do You See In That Mirror? – Eagle Mine Safety president Steven Sandbrook
Work Injury Prevention and Management In Mining – Ralph Whitehurst Insurance’s Susan Barbee
Federal Stimulus Impact in NC – NC Aggregates Association executive director Jay Stem
Registration is required by April 24. For further information, contact the NC DOL.
