Anglo Coal brought the case before the Australian Industrial Relations Commission which ordered the 150 coal miners back to work, reported ABC News Online.
The workers walked out earlier in the week over safety fears, after rising gas levels caused two evacuations at the mine in the past fortnight.
The Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) met with the state mines inspector, Brian Lyne to discuss the worker’s concerns.
The mine suffered a major roof fall in its tailgate during the second week of January, which halted longwall production.
Unconfirmed reports suggest resumption of longwall production is not expected for several weeks. At least 250m of the tailgate has fallen in and ventilation to the panel has been lost.
Mining in the current panel, LW105, only commenced on 23 September 2003. At this stage it is unclear if all of the current panel will be lost or a new longwall installation drive can be driven in the current panel closer to the mains.
