Joy said replacing Newstan’s existing shearer with the Joy shearer is seen as critical by the mine. Joy was working on a plan to fly the shearer to Australia on a very short delivery time frame, depending on completion of the coal block currently being mined.
Newstan Colliery operates in the West Borehole seam at working heights between 3.1 metres (10 feet) and 4.0 metres (13 feet).
Centennial Coal is an Australian-owned thermal and coking coal producer, which supplies both domestic and export markets primarily through term contracts.
