POLISH coal mines may employ as many as 400 miners from the neighbouring Ukraine to aid in its plans to increase coal output.

The coal mines were seeking the miners for development work of new coal deposits.

Polish New Digest said there was 3,600 jobless miners in southern Poland, however they were not willing to be employed for the low wages offered for preparation works.

Following closures of Polish pits only a few years ago, the country is now looking to ramp-up its coal sector to take advantage of strong demand for the commodity.
