A standard kit contains pistons, piston rings, cylinder liners, top gasket, bottom gasket, front and rear oil seals and con rod nuts.

There were two kit ranges available to cover the most popular engine families, Perkins said.

"The overhaul kits not only provide convenience and quality, but also provide significant cost savings when compared to buying individual components,"

Perkins engine manager Laurie Phillips said.

Perkins engines model 1004–4 and 1006–6 are used in personnel carrier vehicles, underground service vehicles (ambulance), and skid steer loaders.

Engines are modified by Specialized Mining Vehicles and PJ Berriman to meet the Bureau of Mines Regulation for Underground Mining Application.
