Record sales lift Macarthur profit

Macarthur originally budgeted for sales of 4.6Mt for the year, but record run-of-mine coal production at its Queensland mines Coppabella and Moorvale meant the company was able to exceed its targets.

Much of the strong sales result was due to Moorvale’s first full year of production since ramp-up in December 2003.

During the quarter, Macarthur constructed a second Moorvale stockpile, commissioned in May.

Macarthur said it would target sales of 4.5Mt for 2005-06, with 4.1Mt to be shipped through Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal and 0.4Mt through Abbot Point.
