"Coal has been responsible for a large percentage of this increase (in state GDP), with the value of coal exports to China rising by more than a staggering 280% over the past five years," Beattie said.
Beattie said Queensland companies had supplied China with world leading mining technology, including computer software and safety systems.
"We also lead the world in research into reducing or eliminating greenhouse gas emissions and have leading expertise in most environmental aspects of mining coal, including rehabilitation of abandoned sites and sustainable operation of existing sites."
The premier is on a ten-day trip with the Queensland Treasury Corporation, meeting with global institutional investors in Hong Kong, Beijing, Tokyo, Dubai, Zurich, and London.
