While the 30M series has been used in Eastern and Midwestern coal operations, it has also found success in potash mines with its hard cutting applications.

The 30M series holds a range for different seam heights, from the mid-seam 30M2 to the high-reaching and narrow roadway-specific 30M4-NP, and from the 30M3 for medium to high seams to the miner-bolter 30MB model.

30M units have been placed in the US, Australia, South Africa, Canada and India.

“A 30M3 like the one shipped to Energy West weighs 70.3 tonnes [155,000lbs], has a total power of 697 kilowatts [935hp] and has a mining range of 1.6 metres (64in) to 4 metres (158in),” Bucyrus said.
