Scheduled for October 28-30 at the Omni William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, the annual gathering will feature experts from both governmental and industry sectors to discuss methane gas recovery and use, legal and financial issues, technological advances and case studies from the nation’s projects.
The following specific presentations are included in the schedule:

- Working with Mine Safety and Health Administration – Erik Sherer (MSHA);
- Special Challenges on Federal Lands – Bureau of Land Management;
- Market Opportunities for Flaring and Ventilation Air Methane Projects in the United States – Jeffrey Liebert (Verdeo Group);
- Case Study: Results from the First US Field Trial of Oxidation Technology for Coal Mine Ventilation Air Methane – Deborah Kosmack (Consol Energy);
- Case Study: West Cliff Colliery’s Ventilation Air Methane to Power Project – Patrick Booth (BHP Billiton);
- Coal Mine Methane Upgrade Technology – Mike Hadden (HNNG); and
- Analysis of economically viable projects at US coal mines – Barbora Jemelkova (EPA).
“In addition to two full days of interesting sessions, attendees of the … conference will have the chance to tour Consol's Windsor Mine Technology Demonstration Project in West Liberty, West Virginia, as well as a CNX project in Washington County, Pennsylvania,” organisers said.
A demonstration of the mitigation of simulated mine ventilation air methane (VAM) from an abandoned operation using the MEGTEC Vocsidizer technology will also be held.
