Runge said Morris would be responsible for the overall leadership, tactical and day-to-day operational management of the NSW branch, which focuses on the Hunter Valley.
Before the appointment, Morris was working for Anglo Coal Australia’s Drayton open cut coal mine in the Hunter Valley.
He has also held various operational and technical leadership roles with Camberwell Coal, Coal & Allied, Peabody and BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance.
“Hal brings with him over 20 years of experience in coal mining across a diverse range of organisations and minesites,” Runge managing director Tony Kinnane said.
“His extensive experience in operational management and a wide range of technical studies will enhance Runge’s strength in the NSW region.”
Morris said his main focus for the next six months would be on improving the company’s understanding of the NSW minerals industry and how Runge’s capabilities were positioned to support the industry’s needs.
“I also look forward to strengthening ties in the Hunter Valley region,” he said.
