The event, titled “Exploring the Future of Colorado Coal”, was designed to bring together state coal officials, power facility operators and regional regulators to discuss the status of the area’s coal industry. It will be held September 22-24 in Delta and Paonia.
While organizers did not detail the finalized itinerary, the conference’s keynote address will be offered by American Coalition of Clean Coal Energy’s Terry Ross.
Other industry professionals will present on the topic of coal-to-liquids technology as well as air quality, government affairs, and mining litigation issues in the state.
A tour of EnergyTech Center’s mining training technology program will also be conducted.
Marking the event’s closure for the year will be a luncheon and candidate and legislative forum on September 24.

According to Colorado Mining Association statistics, the state is ranked eighth in US coal production. Its 2450 coal miners across the state produced more than 32.7 million tons in 2008.
