The government said it would accept binding offers by the middle of December.

After rejecting local power giant Czech and other foreign companies, including powerful firms in neighbouring Austria and Germany, Czech official has allowed five local firms into the bidding.

Mostecka Uhelna of the private Czech energy group Appian, Penta bank's Oakfield and Skrobarna Brno, a unit of bank J&T, were named as the three organisation interested in the Severoceske Doly mine. Black coal mine OKD and its management company Skolvska Tezebni were potential buyers for Sokolobska Uhelna, Reuters said.
