Becker Mining, which earned €156 million last year with 1100 employees, will now oversee the operations of Huntington-based SMC. With 150 employees, SMC is one of the nation's top producers of electrical equipment, medium voltage drives and mining components.
"With SMC we have found a partner whose product lines fit strategically into the Becker Mining Systems group," said Becker chief operating officer Dr Franz Becker.
"The forward vision of SMC complements Becker Mining Systems' focus on mining electrical equipment, VFD drives and components."
SME managing director Dave Whitt added: "Becker Mining Systems is a strong partner with a global presence in the mining industry. For SMC, the integration into the Becker Group will further our international position and reaffirms our commitment to reinvestment in the mining market through new product development."
In November, Becker Mining completed its acquisition of German underground communication, automation and mine safety specialist Embigence.
