One section of MDG 29 will focus on the life cycle management of engine emissions. As part of that review, instrumentation suitable for measurement of diesel particulate in engine exhausts is to be revised.
Mine Safety is seeking expressions of interest from manufacturers and suppliers of diesel particulate monitoring equipment for inclusion in a test program to enable listing in the revised MDG 29 guideline.
The test program will be conducted by the Mine Safety Technology Centre (MSTC) in July.
The test program will include testing against the non-road-steady cycle (NRSC) and will compare results against a partial dilution tunnel for both diesel particulate (DP) and elemental carbon (EC).
The MDG 29 revision will include regular workshop sampling and analysis of engine exhaust. Expressions of interest are also sought from manufacturers and suppliers of gas analysis equipment intended for regular workshop testing of diesel engines for inclusion in the test program.
