White Energy and Shenhua to test coal

The technology creates closer bonding between coal particles to produce higher energy coal that burns more efficiently – creating cost benefits and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

The briquetting process also reduces the moisture content of coal and minimises the risk of spontaneous combustion, enabling coal to be transported more efficiently, thereby lowering transportation costs.

Shenhua International is a wholly owned subsidiary of China Shenhua Energy Company Limited (China Shenhua), China's largest coal producer and one of the largest coal marketers in China.

China Shenhua is developing a substantial power generation business and also owns and operates a large-scale integrated coal transportation network, which consists of dedicated rail lines and port facilities.

White’s patented coal technology is to be acquired by Sydney-based Amerod Resources subject to shareholder approval being received at a meeting on June 28, 2006.
