Based in Queensland, the company has built a reputation as a supplier of conveyor equipment including belt cleaning systems, impact beds and belt support cradles, which will be showcased at AIMEX.
ESS managing director Bob Law puts the company's success down to the focus on maintenance rather than its products alone.
“We don't just sell a product and walk away," he said.
“We'll either go and maintain the equipment for them or, if the client prefers, train and certify their people to maintain the equipment on an ongoing basis. However, with the turnover in people on minesites, after a while the mines tend to turn to us and maintain the equipment.
“We train the guys to get it right first time. That means the clients look at our employees as an asset rather than a cost. They believe our workers are saving them money."
As conveyor belts get faster and more materials are being transferred, dust control and environmental impact have become major motivations for industry to improve bulk material control. ESS has concentrated on integrating solutions to these issues while increasing plant output and reducing maintenance costs.
“Through quality management practices, ESS strives to meet and exceed our client requirements," the company said.
“Because our technicians work with conveyors every day in a variety of plants, in terms of size and material conveyed, it is often they who can suggest improvements to production."
Since its beginnings in Wollongong in 1976, the company now runs two manufacturing facilities – one in Queensland and one in Perth – as well as 11 offices around Australia. It has also been recognised by the Australian Institute of Bulk Handling for its contribution to the industry.
