Coal accounted for 31% of all merchandise leaving NSW in 2012-13, making it the state’s most valuable commodity export.
EventDRE's Industry Investment & Export Support (II&ES) team and its Renewable Energy Advocate hosted a workshop for large-scale solar developers last month as part of $350 million of funding support currently on offer from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC).
“With over 50 high-level stakeholders in attendance, the workshop provided a one-stop-shop of information and key industry contacts that will help companies enter or expand in the NSW solar market,” according to the Department of Industry – Resources and Energy.
This included information about planning processes, network connections, funding programs and mapping resources, as well as the services offered by the II&ES team and Renewable Energy Advocate.
The CEFC indicated at the workshop that they have received applications totalling 684 megawatts of NSW solar projects, far exceeding their expectations for the state.
“DRE will continue to work closely with developers to harness this momentum with the aim of increasing renewable energy jobs and investment in NSW,” it said.
