The SL 900 has a mining range of 7.8-13.5 feet (2.6-4.5 metres), and is the intermediate-size machine between the Eickhoff SL 750 and the SL 1000, its largest model.
“It optimally combines many of the advantages of the two other shearers with its mining range flexibility,” the company said.
The 118-ton machine has total installed power of 3154 horsepower, and is ideal for the typically higher mining heights and challenging conditions of western US underground coal operations.
The SL 900 is already sparking interest at some global mining operations – in January two were delivered to China’s Shenhua Energy Coal and one was sent to Yushuwa Coal.
A fourth is slated to arrive in the second quarter at Shenhua Energy Coal.
Germany-headquartered Eickhoff has facilities and subsidiaries in ten countries on five continents, including a US headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
