Waratah already holds a JORC-compliant inferred resource of 675Mt on the northern portion of the project, with the current drilling program focusing on previously unexplored areas to the south.
Two drill rigs are currently in use at the project, with one extending north to join the two known resources, while the second moves west to test the extent of the A-B coal seam, which has thicknesses in excess of 20m in some places.
A third rig is on standby to provide “infill” boreholes in order to upgrade the resource from inferred to reserve status.
The Alpha North project promises to perform well for Waratah, with the potential to produce a large amount of high quality thermal coal from previously unexplored areas.
