The program already supports 31 first-year engineering students with their degrees, but the QRC said it will sponsor up to three extra scholarships for individual QUT students that demonstrate “a particular passion" for the resources sector.
“The QRC is proud to assist such high-quality students at the starting point of their careers in the resources sector,” said QRC chief executive Michael Roche said.
“The students themselves tell us that the scholarships offer so much more than just money.
“They bring with them opportunities to create lasting relationships with people in resources sector companies, to gain practical experience and to build a profile within the sector from their very first year at university.”
