Hydco International will use the event to launch its new 100H multipurpose exploration drill rig, which will be featured in one of QREX’s largest outdoor exhibits, allowing for the 12m mast to be fully extended.
Pioneer Drilling, on the other hand, will unveil new additions to its fleet of drilling rigs used at BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance operations.
Foundation sponsor of the event, Caterpillar dealer Hasting Deering, has more than 200 square metres booked to showcase new models in Caterpillar’s compact construction equipment range.
Hytorc Queensland will use QREX to demonstrate the world’s first hydraulic torque and tension wrench without a reaction arm, and Capability Resources will unveil a new welding safety device.
Amare Safety will launch a new hearing protection product and demonstrate a new emergency first aid washing solution for treating chemical splashes to the eyes and skin.
Reed Exhibitions exhibition manager Soren Norgaard said visitors can save time by meeting a number of suppliers at the same time and place, with more than 150 exhibitors contracted to QREX.
“While we all know times are tough, there are new projects on the horizon, such as Waratah Coal’s thermal coal project, and an event such as QREX can help ensure that the mining industry is ready for opportunities when they start to appear again,” Norgaard said.
“In addition, in just the past few weeks, it’s become evident that China’s economy – and demand for Australia’s resources – is proving to be substantially more resilient than it had been given credit for.
“Resources prices are starting to move back up, credit markets are opening up so that finance is again becoming easier to obtain, and Australia’s – and Queensland’s – resources sectors are beginning to feel significantly more optimistic about the future.”
QREX will be held at the Rockhampton Showgrounds from July 21-23, with two industry conferences also planned.
The International Industry Conference starts on July 20, focusing on issues related to the global resources industry as well as Australia’s, while the Australian Resources Conference after QREX on July 24 will also focus on the future of Queensland’s resources industry.
