Spitfire is looking at 10 core holes at Langloh and 32 open holes at Avoca.
“The drilling is expected to take approximately six weeks and will be conducted in conjunction with a test work program to verify historic coal-quality data from these projects,” the company said.
“The follow-up test work program will take approximately 10 weeks to complete.”
Spitfire continued negotiations in the last quarter with potential joint venture partners for its Tasmanian thermal coal projects.
The company is also a Western Australian manganese explorer and ended 2009 with a cash position of $4.89 million.
Shares in Spitfire remain unchanged at 8c.
