Highland GeoComputing names new principal

COLORADO based Highland GeoComputing LLC has named Dwight M. Kinnes as principal consultant.

Staff Reporter

Kinnes has over 17 years of experience in geological exploration and geological modeling of coal deposits and has constructed geological reserve models in each of the primary coal basins in the US, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Australia, Indonesia, Germany, and Thailand. Kinnes has also performed field exploration projects (drilling and mapping) in the US, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Somalia.

He also develops mining specific geographical information systems (GIS) and internet mapping systems for mining companies.

“As network bandwidths increase and mining information continues to expand into digital form, the need to access geological and mining data through map-based desktop interfaces also increases ensuring that mines produce marketable products at a profit,” Kinnes said.

“HGC believes that a mine’s profit resides in the details. By providing concise geological answers to mining questions, HGC adds value by increasing confidence in geological modeling predictions and reducing operational delays associated with mitigating unexpected geological occurrences.”

Highland GeoComputing provides comprehensive geological database and modeling services, GIS services and general geological support to coal mining companies. The company provides mine specific geological services to clients who normally do not have in-house geological specialists.

Kinnes will direct all geological and GIS projects for HGC from their Littleton, Colorado office.
