The efector octavis detection unit was a "world first" with its compact size, simplicity and affordability, the company said.
When mounted onto a pump, spindle, compressor or fan, octavis detected any imbalance in, or damage to rolling element bearings by evaluating vibration signals.
"If the efector octavis detects acoustic emission, the frequency spectrum is calculated and the condition of the roiling element bearing is evaluated," ifm efector said.
"The condition of the bearing can be read on-site and is signalled by binary switching outputs."
The unit required no ongoing maintenance and was simple to use, the company said.
