CENTRAL Appalachian coal producer National Coal will move to the Nasdaq National Market as of April 21.

National Coal moves to National Market

The company's common stock will begin trading on the Nasdaq National Market under its current ticker symbol, NCOC. The company has been trading on the Nasdaq SmallCap Market since April 22, 2005.

The Tennessee-based company engages in coal mining business in eastern Tennessee and southeastern Kentucky. It produces coal by locating, assembling, leasing, assessing, permitting and developing coal properties.

National Coal employs more than 250 people and produces coal from two mines in Tennessee and four mines in Kentucky. The company sells steam coal to electric utilities in the Southeastern United States.

In 2005 the company delivered revenues of $US66 million on the sale of 1.2 million tonnes of coal while EBITDA rose from a loss of $3.4 million in 2004 to $8 million.
