The event, which was initiated by the China University of Mining and Technology, will be hosted by the University of Wollongong on November 24-26.
The symposium will include a two-day technical program with 40 presentations by mine operators and researchers from Australia, China and Poland.
The topics will focus on the theory and practice for maximising coal resource recovery with reduced environmental impact and carbon footprint, according to conference executive chairman Ting Ren.
The symposium will be attended by a large delegation from China consisting of top researchers and professors from its leading universities, research institutes and mining companies, he said.
“This will be a great opportunity for Australian mine operators and researchers to share their knowledge and experiences in ‘green mining’, particularly in gas drainage, strata control and resource recovery,” Ren told ILN.
“In addition to the technical program, the symposium also features social opportunities of a welcome function and conference dinner, and post-conference tour to Metropolitan Colliery and Coal Services’ virtual reality centre and mine rescue station.”
Key featured speakers also include president of China University of Mining and Technology Professor Ge Shirong and CSIRO Coal Mining theme leader and chief scientist Hua Guo.
Strata Control Technology managing director Winton Gale and underground coal, CRC mining program leader Scott Adam will also be speakers.
Chief executive of Shenhua Australia Ningbo Wang will deliver a presentation as will CSIRO energy technology senior principal research scientist Abouna Saghafi.
The symposium will be officially opened by, the Vice-Chancellor of University of Wollongong Professor Paul Wellings.
