Church dedicates Sunday service to coal miners

With many families in West Virginia dependant on the coal industry for income, the Fountains of Liberty Church of God decided it was a good way to remember local residents who had lost their lives on coal mines.

The service received an unprecedented amount of followers, many of whom were themselves miners.

The church said it wanted to pay tribute to miners past and present at a time when the state’s coal industry was under fire from stricter environmental regulations, putting jobs at risk.
