The company developed the world’s first all-plastic compression fitting for polyethylene pipes in 1968 and is a specialist manufacturer and distributor of specific mining pipeline connections and systems.
This includes its Safelok compression fitting with the design objective of providing a safe compression fitting solution for connecting polyethylene pipes in mining applications.
It also has electrofusion couplings, ratio valves, spigot fittings for polyethylene pipes, process piping systems and mechanical couplings.
Philmac’s Safelok is made from a special formulation of polypropylene and has distinct orange nuts for high visibility.
The Safelok features the patented slide and tighten technology that allows simple, safe and effective joins by inserting the polyethylene pipe into the fitting and tightening the nut.
According to Philmac, the benefits of the Safelok fitting are:
- Increased safety, including impact resistance, high-visibility orange nut and air line safety
- Fast and easy installation with the slide and tighten technology
- Chemical resistance, minimal pipe twist, no loose components and visual stop, all meaning increased security
- Advanced thermoplastic rated to 1600 kilopascals and a 50-plus year design life
- Comprehensive Safelok range including couplers, tees, elbows, threaded connectors, end caps, flange and shouldered adaptors ranging from 63mm to 110mm.
