The thoroughly tested footwear, designed to combine the arch and ankle support of the leather boot with the water protection of the gumboot, earned Centennial the 2014 innovation award at NSW Minerals Council Health and Safety Innovation Awards in May.
“The third version of the fit-for-purpose boot is now in full production,” the coal mining company recently said.
“Centennial and Blundstone also took out the Chartered Institute for Procurement and Supply Australasia award for Best Supplier Partnership for the underground mining boot, in October 2014.
“The CIPSA award recognises partnerships between suppliers and companies.”
Centennial said the boot-making project started as a simple procurement project but quickly evolved into something much more.
