The centre will be located at Eagle Farm, near the Brisbane airport and will be headed by Gavin Liston.
Liston will lead a team of engineering professionals with the ability to provide fly-in, fly-out support to customers across regional markets of the state.
Ampcontrol chief operating officer Rod Henderson said Liston would be a valuable member to the centre.
“With Gavin on board we are able to build a new support team within easy reach of many of our customers who have their head office[s] in Brisbane and operations across the state,” Henderson said.
He said the centre would help fight the state’s skills shortage and also provide a one-stop shop for its Brisbane-based customers.
“It is critical in times of skilled labour shortages to think outside the box and what we are doing is looking to establish a sustainable and practical solution for our customers which gives greater flexibility and work life balance options to our employees,” Henderson said.
The engineering hub will provide satellite support to Ampcontrol’s existing operations in Mackay, Emerald and Moranbah.
