Peabody puts Wilkie Creek up for sale

Peabody said it made the decision to try to sell the mine during the December 2011 quarter following its successful $4.9 billion takeover of Macarthur Coal.

According to The Australian, Peabody has appointed UBS to manage any possible sale.

The Wilkie Creek open-cut mine produces low sulfur, low nitrogen thermal coal.

Peabody acquired the mine in 2002.
