Local media reported that there were no injuries but the terminal had ceased operations due to the accident.
According to the Gladstone Observer, the operator managed to climb to safety and an investigation has begun.
A Gladstone Ports Corporation spokesperson told the newspaper that employees had been briefed and efforts to extract the equipment were already underway.
“A GPC recovery team is currently at the site executing a recovery plan to remove the dozer from the stockpile,” the spokesperson said.
The RG Tanna Coal Terminal has undergone a number of expansion projects in recent years to meet increasing export demands.
Brisbane-based infrastructure company Tenement to Terminal has recently proposed a new 50-million-tonne capacity coal terminal for Gladstone to further cope with the port’s increasing resources traffic.
