The AMT OdaDisk, a portable file storage solution designed for hazardous areas, is Intrinsically Safe (IS) and certified to the IEC 60079 standard for use in Australian and international underground coal mines.
The AMT OdaDisk can be used in any remote data transfer operation where fixed communications to the surface are not present. It is ideal for data acquisition and transfer from monitoring at development headings, process control system testing and commissioning, geotechnical data collection and monitoring, and plant and equipment condition monitoring.
Launched in July at the Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition, AMT’s Craig Hoffmann said that to his knowledge the OdaDisk was the first product of its kind to be offered to the longwall sector.
It weighs only 600 grams and can be easily transported on a miner’s belt. AMT OdaDisk is PC compatible, and has an infra-red communication link. It has a two mega byte flash memory and can upload or download at 1700 bytes per second.
Based in New South Wales, Advanced Mining Technologies specialises in the design, manufacture and marketing of electronic equipment for the mining industry.
