Coking coal exports were 8.87Mt and thermal exports were 3.58Mt, giving a grand total of 12.45Mt for the month. This was only slightly above October 2003 levels of 12Mt.
Output per seven hour employee shift remained relatively stable from October 2003 to October this year, Northern underground mines at 33.38t on the face and the central district measuring 61.76t on the face.
Underground employment continued to rise from 2,721 in October 2003 to 2,936 in October 2004.
