The project, located 20km southeast of Wandoan, overlies a sub-cropping sequence of the Juandah Coal Measures, the upper coal bearing sequence of the Walloon subgroup.
Cockatoo said the thickest recognised seam encountered comprised 7.7m of coal over a 14.3m interval in the Guluguba Lower Seam to a depth of 61m. The company said this hole contained the thickest overall cumulative coal intersection of 15.8m over an interval of 24m to a depth of 75.7m.
A follow-up drilling program has commenced – comprising more than 100 holes over the entire project designed to penetrate down to the Argyle Seam at depths of up to 120m.
Cockatoo Coal was trading mid-morning at 18.5 cents.
