The company said in a statement that it would cut coal supplies to some customers by 5-10% until the second half of 2007, when production levels are expected to return to normal.

Yuzhkuzbassugol said it would fund the restoration costs from reserve funds in its 2007 budget.

In 2005 Yuzhkuzbassugol produced 13 million tonnes of coking coal and 4Mt of steam coal from nine coal mines.

The company is 50% owned by Evraz Group and 50% by the management of Yuzhkuzbassugol.
